Pool leak repair

Pool skimmer leak repair

The skimmer is one of the most common places a pool leaks. Pro Pool Team dye tests the skimmer throat, checks where the skimmer meets the pool wall and the deck, and plumbing tests the skimmer line, then repairs the leak at its source.

Florida State-Certified Pool/Spa Contractor · License CPC1460553 In Florida, pool leak repair takes a state CPC license. Many companies say "licensed" without a number. Ours is public: verify it on the state website, or read how to check any pool company's license.

Signs your skimmer is leaking

  • The water level drops and then stops at about the middle of the skimmer opening.
  • There is a visible crack or gap where the skimmer throat meets the tile or pool wall.
  • The deck around the skimmer has settled or cracked.
  • The skimmer line fails a plumbing test during a leak detection.

Why skimmers leak

Skimmers are plastic boxes set into the concrete of the pool wall. As the deck and soil settle, the skimmer can pull away from the shell and open a gap behind the tile. The skimmer body itself can also crack, and the pipe connection under the skimmer can separate. In Southwest Florida's sandy soil, settling around the skimmer is very common.

How we repair skimmer leaks

  • Sealing the gap between the skimmer throat and the pool shell with professional-grade materials.
  • Repairing a cracked skimmer body or the pipe connection beneath it.
  • Full skimmer replacement when the body is badly cracked. This means opening the deck and coping around the skimmer, setting a new skimmer, and patching the deck to match as closely as possible.

Start with a leak detection

Every repair starts by confirming exactly where the water is going. Leak detection starts at $295, and the repair estimate includes a discount if we do the work. Already have a report from another company? Send it to us for a quote.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know if my skimmer is leaking?

A common sign is a water level that drops and then stops at about the middle of the skimmer opening. A dye test at the skimmer throat and a plumbing test of the skimmer line confirm it.

Can a leaking skimmer be repaired without replacing it?

Often yes. Many skimmer leaks are at the seam between the skimmer and the pool wall and can be sealed. A badly cracked skimmer body needs to be replaced.

How much does skimmer repair cost?

It depends on whether the skimmer can be sealed or needs to be replaced. We price the repair after a leak detection so you know the cost before work starts.
