Professional pool leak detection and repair in Englewood

Englewood sits on the line between Charlotte and Sarasota counties, and we serve pools on both sides, including Manasota Key and the Cape Haze peninsula.

Coastal homes here face salt air and sandy soil, which are hard on equipment and on underground plumbing.

Pool services in Englewood

Why pools leak in Englewood

Englewood pools range from older homes near Dearborn Street to newer builds inland. Coastal homes deal with salt air and sandy soil, and recent hurricanes moved soil and damaged decks across the area. Older pools here commonly leak at lights, skimmers and underground return lines.

How we find leaks on Englewood pools

We test the equipment, plumbing test each line and dive the pool to dye test fittings, lights and cracks. If a line fails, we use a hydrophone to find the break so the repair is as small as possible.

Recent job: a leaking light niche and a hollow skimmer throat

The dye test on this Englewood pool found two leaks. The first was at the pool light: both screw holes on the light niche were leaking, even the one with the screw still in it. That's common with this older style of niche. We patched it with epoxy, but a leak like that usually comes back, so we quoted two lasting fixes: reseal the niche, or replace it with a newer style niche that holds the light properly.

The second leak was at the skimmer throat. It had been epoxied before, and the area sounded completely hollow when we tapped it. This was an older fiberglass skimmer, and the right repair is a new skimmer. We patched it to slow the loss, and we took video of both leaks for the homeowner.

No other areas of the pool were leaking.

Englewood pool leak questions

Do you serve the Sarasota County side of Englewood?

Yes. We serve Englewood on both the Charlotte and Sarasota county sides.

Do you serve Manasota Key?

Yes. Call (239) 533-5935 to schedule.

How much does pool leak detection cost?

Pro Pool Team leak detection starts at $295. Price depends on pool size, features such as spas and water features, and how complex the plumbing is. Larger or more complex pools can cost more. You get a written report, and if we do the repair, we take 5% off the repair quote, up to the cost of your leak detection.

How much water loss is normal for a pool in Florida?

Evaporation in Southwest Florida usually runs about 1/8 to 1/4 inch per day, depending on sun, wind and heat. If your pool drops more than that, or your service tech keeps adding salt and stabilizer, you likely have a leak.

Does a pool leak detection company need a Florida license?

Yes. In Florida, removing main drain covers and pool lights for testing requires a state pool contractor license, and the license number starts with CPC. A complete leak detection checks the drains and lights. Pro Pool Team holds license CPC1460553. You can verify any contractor on the Florida DBPR license lookup.
