Pool main drain leak repair

The main drain sits at the deepest point of the pool, so a leak there keeps draining the pool until it is fixed. Pro Pool Team dives the pool to dye test around the drain, plumbing tests the drain line, and repairs the drain or its line under our Florida contractor license.

Florida State-Certified Pool/Spa Contractor · License CPC1460553 In Florida, pool leak repair takes a state CPC license. Many companies say "licensed" without a number. Ours is public: verify it on the state website, or read how to check any pool company's license.

Signs of a main drain leak

  • The pool keeps losing water even when the water level is below the skimmer, lights and returns.
  • The water loss continues with the pump off.
  • Dye is pulled toward the drain cover or the edges of the drain sump during a dye test.

Why main drains leak

The drain body is set into the floor of the pool shell. Over time the seal around the drain can crack, the drain line under the pool can break, and old drain parts can fail. Ground movement under the pool shell can also stress the drain line.

How we repair main drain leaks

  • Sealing around the drain sump from inside the pool.
  • Repairing or isolating a broken main drain line.
  • Replacing drain covers with compliant anti-entrapment covers when the work requires it.

In Florida, a contractor must hold a license that starts with CPC to remove or replace main drain covers. Pro Pool Team holds license CPC1460553.
