The day before
- Fill the pool to its normal level, about the middle of the skimmer opening. If the water is too low, leaks above the waterline can't be found and the pump can run dry.
- Turn off the auto-fill so it doesn't hide the water loss.
- Make sure the water is clear enough to see the bottom. If it is green, shock it. The tech uses dye, and cloudy water hides it.
On the day
- Leave the gate open. In a gated community, call your security gate to let us in.
- Make sure the tech can reach the equipment pad.
- If you rent the home out, schedule the visit when no one is swimming.
If your pool is empty or very low
Call us first. We can test the plumbing lines of an empty pool, but leaks in the shell, lights and fittings can only be confirmed with water in the pool.
After the visit
The tech calls you to go over the report before leaving. Payment is due then, and if no one is home the tech can take it by phone or use a card on file. You also get a written report with photos by email, then a separate repair quote. See what a leak detection costs for what is included.
