When a temporary patch makes sense
A temporary patch can slow water loss until the permanent repair is scheduled. Our leak techs sometimes apply one during a leak detection for that reason.
Why patches keep failing
- Pool chemicals slowly break down the patch
- The ground and the pool shell move, which opens the crack again
- The patch covers the surface but not the damage underneath
A patch can hide a leak
A fresh patch can hide a leak during testing. That is why we do not patch during a pre-sale inspection: the buyer needs to see the real condition of the pool.
What a permanent repair looks like
We cut out the damaged area, rebuild it with hydraulic cement, then seal it. For skimmers and fittings, that often means replacing the part. You get a written quote before any work starts.
