Professional pool leak detection and repair in Pine Island

Pine Island is just across Matlacha Pass from Cape Coral, so it is a short trip for our leak techs. We serve Matlacha, St. James City, Pine Island Center and Bokeelia.

Many island properties have long runs of plumbing between the pool and the equipment pad, which makes plumbing testing each line especially important.

Pool services in Pine Island

Why pools leak in Pine Island

Pine Island homes range from older island cottages to newer canal homes in St. James City. Island soil and long plumbing runs mean underground lines carry a lot of stress, and storm surge from recent hurricanes moved soil around many pools. Older pools here also tend to have original lights and skimmers that are past their service life.

How we find leaks on Pine Island pools

We isolate and plumbing test each line from the equipment pad to the pool, then dive the pool to dye test lights, skimmers, returns and any cracks. If a line fails, we use a hydrophone to find the spot so the dig is as small as possible.

Recent job: return line leak under the pavers in St. James City

A St. James City homeowner called us because their pool was losing water and water was pooling under the pavers next to the pool. Our leak tech plumbing tested the lines. The suction side passed, but the return side failed. We dye tested the pool and tracked the leak to the return line under the deck, right where two 90-degree fittings meet.

For the repair we lowered the water, lifted the pavers, cut out the broken fittings and replumbed that section of the return line with new pipe. Then we reset and sealed the pavers and put the valves back exactly as we found them.

Water under the pavers next to a pool is a common sign of an underground plumbing leak. A plumbing test tells us which line is leaking before anyone starts digging, so we only open up the deck where the break is.

Pine Island pool leak questions

Do you serve all of Pine Island?

Yes. We cover Matlacha, St. James City, Pine Island Center and Bokeelia.

My equipment pad is far from the pool. Does that matter?

Long plumbing runs give more places for a break. We isolate and plumbing test each line so we know which one is leaking before anything is dug up.

How much does pool leak detection cost?

Pro Pool Team leak detection starts at $295. Price depends on pool size, features such as spas and water features, and how complex the plumbing is. Larger or more complex pools can cost more. You get a written report, and if we do the repair, we take 5% off the repair quote, up to the cost of your leak detection.

How much water loss is normal for a pool in Florida?

Evaporation in Southwest Florida usually runs about 1/8 to 1/4 inch per day, depending on sun, wind and heat. If your pool drops more than that, or your service tech keeps adding salt and stabilizer, you likely have a leak.

Does a pool leak detection company need a Florida license?

Yes. In Florida, removing main drain covers and pool lights for testing requires a state pool contractor license, and the license number starts with CPC. A complete leak detection checks the drains and lights. Pro Pool Team holds license CPC1460553. You can verify any contractor on the Florida DBPR license lookup.
