Pool leak repair
Underground pool plumbing repair
Underground pool pipes run under the deck between the pool and the equipment pad. When one breaks, the pool loses water you cannot see. Pro Pool Team plumbing tests each line, pinpoints the break with a hydrophone, and digs only where the break is.

Signs of an underground pool pipe leak
- The pool loses more water when the pump is running.
- Air bubbles in the pump basket or bubbles coming out of the returns.
- Wet spots, sinkholes or settling pavers near the pool or along the plumbing route.
- A line fails a plumbing test during a leak detection.
Why underground pool pipes break
Southwest Florida's sandy fill settles for years, and tree roots, construction traffic and storms move the ground around pool plumbing. Glued PVC fittings can separate and pipes can crack under the deck, especially on older pools and canal-front lots.
How we repair underground plumbing
- Isolating and plumbing testing each line to find which one is broken.
- Using a hydrophone to listen for the break and mark the spot.
- Opening the deck or lifting pavers right over the break.
- Replacing the damaged section of pipe and plumbing testing it again.
- Patching the concrete or resetting the pavers.
Start with a leak detection

Frequently asked questions
Do you have to tear up my whole deck?
No. We pinpoint the break first, so we only open the deck or lift pavers right over it.
Can you repair a pipe under pavers?
Yes. Pavers can usually be lifted and reset after the repair.
How long does an underground pipe repair take?
Most underground repairs are done in a day, depending on depth and access.
Will I get to see the leak?
When we dig up an underground plumbing leak, we try to get a video of the break and share it with you, along with photos of the repair.
Will the deck patch match the rest of my deck?
We do our best to match the color and texture, but new concrete will be visible next to old concrete. We get it as close as we can, but we can't guarantee a perfect match. Pavers can usually be lifted and reset, so they match.
Do you test the pipe before covering it back up?
Yes. After the new section of pipe goes in, we pressure test the line before we fill the hole and patch the deck or reset the pavers.
Why is sand coming out of my pool returns?
Sand in the pool from the returns usually means a broken underground line is pulling in soil. Schedule a leak detection so we can find the break.
