Making it safe
The tech turned off all the breakers to the equipment before starting, then lifted the pavers next to the spa and dug down to the plumbing.
Finding the crack
The air line had a crack running through the pipe. The tech also found that the flex line feeding all the jets is badly deteriorated. It held for now, but it may cause problems in the future.
The repair
The tech cut out the cracked section and made a new plumbing connection. The old pipes were too deteriorated to safely run a plumbing test on the whole system, so instead the spa was turned on and the work area was watched. No leaks showed in the repair while the system ran.
What to watch for
Because the flex line is in poor shape, more leaks along it would not be a surprise. If the spa starts losing water again, that line is the first place to look. See our underground plumbing repair page for how we handle these.
