Plumbing test first
The suction side and the return side both passed, so we moved on to dye testing the pool.
The light niche
Water was leaking through a screw hole in the light niche. We patched it with butyl tape as a temporary fix, and it stopped leaking. The niche still needs to be resealed.
The main drain
The bigger leak was in the main drain, about 6 inches long. It had been patched at least twice before. We put on fresh epoxy, but a leak this size will keep losing water until the drain is properly repaired. See why epoxy is not a permanent fix.
Old patches
The light niche and 3 returns had been epoxied before. None of them were leaking at the time of our visit.
