Plumbing and equipment checked
There were no issues at the equipment, the light was working, and both the suction side and the return side passed their plumbing tests. That ruled out the underground lines.
Dye in the skimmer throat
During the dye test, our tech found the leak in the skimmer throat, where the skimmer meets the pool wall. On this pool the right fix is a new skimmer. See how we repair skimmer leaks.
A temporary patch
We applied epoxy to the leaking area to slow the loss, but the leak is bad enough that the pool will keep losing water until the skimmer is replaced. For another fiberglass pool we tested, see this Naples job.
