Equipment and plumbing
The tech checked the equipment and tested the plumbing. Both the suction side and the return side passed, so the water was leaving through the pool itself.
Dye testing the pool
The dye test found a leak in the skimmer throat. This skimmer is encased, meaning it is set in concrete around the fiberglass shell, so the repair takes more work than a typical skimmer. The dye also showed a second leak around one of the return fittings.
What happens next
The pool will keep losing water until both leaks are repaired. The equipment was running and primed when we left, and the repair quote covers the skimmer throat and the return fitting.
