Getting the pool ready
The crew stopped the pump at the control panel and neutralized the chlorine before draining, then sent the water out to the yard. They drained about 7,000 gallons to bring the water below the skimmer.
Removing the old skimmer
The crew cut out the deck around the skimmer and removed the old one. Before it came out, they marked where it sat back from the pool wall so the new skimmer would go in at the same spot.
New skimmer and plumbing
The new skimmer was plumbed into the lines below and mounted level. The crew also noted a well point line running next to the skimmer, which is good to know for any future digging.
Patching the deck and throat
The crew patched the deck around the new lid and finished the skimmer throat at the pool wall. We do our best to match the deck, but a new concrete patch will always show a little.
Refilling the pool
The equipment stays off until the pool is full again, so the pump doesn't run dry.
