Getting the pool ready
The crew shut the pump off before starting and added chlorine neutralizer so the water could be drained safely. They lowered the pool about 1,000 gallons, just below the skimmer, so they could work on it dry.
Taking out the old skimmer
The skimmer sits under the deck, so the crew lifted the pavers around it and removed the old skimmer. That opened the area down to the suction pipe that connects the skimmer to the pump.
Setting and plumbing the new skimmer
The new skimmer was set level with the pool and plumbed back into the suction line. The crew then packed hydraulic cement around it to lock it into the pool wall, backfilled the hole and put the pavers back.
Refilling the pool
The pool was ready to refill the next day. We also let the homeowner know the paver deck had settled unevenly over about 20 years, and recommended a paver company to relevel it before it gets worse.
