Getting the pool ready
The crew neutralized the chlorine before draining, then lowered the pool about 1,000 gallons to get below the skimmer. They also noted that the coping on the skimmer side was loose.
Pulling the pavers and the old skimmer
They lifted the pavers around the skimmer and cut out the old one, opening the area down to the suction pipe and the overflow line.
New skimmer and plumbing
The new skimmer was set in place and the suction pipe and overflow were re-plumbed to it. The gap between the skimmer and the pool wall was packed with hydraulic cement.
Putting the deck back
The crew poured a new sub-deck under the pavers, reset the pavers around the new skimmer lid and cleaned the pool. It was ready to fill the next day.
For another Fort Myers skimmer job, where the crew cut out the deck and patched it, see this new skimmer install.
