Equipment and plumbing
The pool was full and clear when we arrived, and we found no issues at the equipment. The suction side and the return side of the plumbing both passed.
Dye testing the spa
The dye test found water leaking around 7 of the 8 spa jets. All 8 had been patched with epoxy at some point, and one was leaking badly. One of the spa returns had also been epoxied and needs the same repair.
Epoxy as a courtesy
We put fresh epoxy on the leaking jets as a courtesy to slow the water loss. Epoxy patches like these have no warranty, and the spa will keep losing some water until the jets are properly repaired. See why epoxy is not a permanent repair.
Other things we noticed
Several spots in the spa bench had been epoxied, which is an unusual place for a patch. None of them were leaking. There was also a hole in the skimmer throat that, somehow, was not leaking.
What happens next
All 8 jet fittings and the epoxied return need a proper fitting repair. The repair quote lists each one.
