Pool light conduit leak in Port Charlotte

A Port Charlotte pool was losing water. The plumbing passed, and our dye test found the leak at the conduit line behind the pool light, where an old silicone seal had failed.

Plumbing test first

The suction side and the return side of the plumbing both passed, so the leak was in the pool itself.

Dye testing the light

The dye test found water leaking around the conduit line in the light niche. The conduit is the pipe that carries the light cord, and it runs from the niche to the junction box on the deck. Someone had sealed it with silicone before, and that seal had let go.

Sealing it with epoxy

Our tech removed the old silicone and sealed the conduit with epoxy. After the epoxy went on, we checked again and the line was no longer leaking. See more about pool light leaks.

Other things we checked

A fitting had been epoxied at some point and was not leaking. We found no other leaks, and the equipment was running and primed when we left.
