Getting ready
The crew neutralized the chlorine and lowered the water about 3,000 gallons to get below the tile line and the spa crack.
The spa
In the spa, the crew cut out and removed the tile, then ground the area smooth with a cup wheel so new thin set would bond to a clean surface. The crack under it was notched out and prepped. They also ground out the old grout around the spillway where epoxy had been used, so it can be grouted properly.
Two cracked sections in the pool
In the pool, the crew found two sections along the bond beam where the tile or the grout joint had cracked. They removed the tile, ground the areas smooth and hung the tile back with thin set and spacers, leaving the joints clean for grout.
A little extra
While they were there, the crew also ground out a few vertical grout joints where grout was missing, so those spots get new grout too. The crew is coming back to finish the job, so the pool stays partly drained until then. See how we repair pool cracks.
